Sure, the most common cause of this problem is when there are odd characters, symbols or spaces in the shortcode (usually coming from the Playlist Title). Check your shortcode and make sure there’s nothing other than standard letters. In particular make sure there is not a space before an underscore.

I’m having the same issue too & I did what you said to do & still showed the sample track . Also when I used the widget, it kept only letting me select the first playlist in my lineup.

Also, it is very helpful if you can rule out conflicts with other plugins/themes – deactivate all your other plugins and switch to default twentytwelve theme. Does the plugin work now?
