$ won't display

I have installed the CP Contact Form Paypal on my wordpress site. I am having a couple of issues.
1. In the form fields, using a drop down, when I enter the price of an item and use the $ in front of it, for example $22 the price won’t show. But when I put a space after the $, for example $ 22, then the price will show. How can I fix this?

2. I am trying to add in the prices to the drop down menus so that paypal will calculate the cost of everything that the customers selects, but it is not working, I assume because of the problem above.

Can anyone help me fix it? I am not a developer so please respond in laymen’s terms on how to fix. Thank you.
