Could you please log in to your site via FTP, and delete the existing jetpack plugin files?

Once you have done so you should be able to install Jetpack again, either via the Plugin installer in your dashboard, or manually via FTP:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

NOTE: you will lose any customizations you’ve set, so if you’re using Custom CSS, please make sure to copy the contents of your CSS file prior to deleting the plugin.

Let me know if you still have this problem and I’ll be happy to take a closer look. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi there Carolyn,

I’ve done what you advised me to do. I got to the step of reinstalling Jetpack, but still no love.
    It says
    Destination folder already exists. /home/tributef/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/

    Plugin install failed.

What do I do from here? My WordPress skills are limited compared to most. Basic coding and so on.
Any help to get Jetpack back on line to my site would be appreciated. I do like the plugin its just not playing nice at the moment.

    Thank you

Please try to install Jetpack manually via FTP and let me know if you still have trouble. That error message occurs when the /jetpack/ folder wasn’t properly deleted via FTP.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Carolyn

    Please excuse my ignorance.

When you refer to FTP, what is this? Deleting and installing.

Like I mentioned, not as knowledgeable with WordPress as I would like.

    Thank you

With FTP (also known as File Transfer Protocol), you would need to contact your webhost to get your FTP login information for your website. They should be able to provide that for you upon request.

Then, here’s a great tutorial video on how to use FTP to find your plugins folder – the video references how to fix things if plugins go wrong!
    http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-ftp-to-upload-files-to-wordpress-for-beginners/

You would want to navigate to wp-content/plugins/ and find the folder named “jetpack”. You can then delete the entire “jetpack” folder and that will remove the plugin from your site.

Here’s what your WordPress file structure should look like and where the “jetpack” folder is located – it may look different based upon the program you’re using for FTP, but the structure is going to be the same:
    http://d.pr/i/VUNd

Then you should download the latest version of Jetpack here:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/

Next, follow the instructions here to manually install the plugin via FTP (the link to the plugin above is step 1 on those instructions):
    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-install-wordpress-plugins-manually.html

    I hope that helps!
