[resolved] Wondering why WP devs still use 8-space tabs for indenting their HTML and CSS? (2 posts)

As far as I know the 4-space tab size for indenting is pretty much standard.. Wondering why WP is using 8 instead. For these of you who use to develop plugins or themes - how do you do it in your files?

WP coding standards specify real tabs, not any number of spaces -- every individual editor chooses how many spaces to translate a tab into; the good ones will have settings to let you customize that number.

You can find the WP coding standards here: http://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/coding-standards/#indentation Note that they're not binding outside of core, but they are recommended for themes and plugins.
