Support » Plugin: Genesis Connect for WooCommerce » with this plugin active, product search will not show on shop page

  • Resolved earrame

I notice that if I try to target the shop page to place a search bar in a widget area, it was not showing up. I removed the genesis connect plugin and now it does show up in the correct place on the shop page. Do you know why this would be?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

Can you share more details about where the search bar widget area is expected to show and how it was added to your theme? If you can also share a screenshot, that would be helpful as well.

Hello, I have created a widget area that is at the top of the content area. I have set the ‘Product Search Field’ widget to be visible on taxonomy > all pages, Pages > Shop, and page > Wishlist:

It is showing on the category pages and the wishlist:

But it is not showing on the shop page unless I remove the Genesis connection plugin.

It is specifically if I select it to be shown on Page > Shop. If I do not set visibility rules, a widget will show on the shop page in that location.

I do not see any other way to target that page specifically and I would really like it to work with the Genesis Connect for WooCommerce plugin.

    Thanks for these screenshots, @earrame.

Which widget visibility plugin are you using to show and hide widgets? It sounds like the way the plugin is checking for the shop page may be the issue here, but I’d be happy to test this further for you.

Jet pack is the plugin that is providing the visibility function.

Thanks! Can you try selecting Page → Products (under “Post type archives”) from the Jetpack widget visibility drop-down instead of Page → Shop, please?

WordPress / WooCommerce / Genesis Connect treats the shop page as a post type archive rather than a regular page, which is why it doesn’t appear when Page → Shop is selected.

That worked. Thank you very much!

You’re welcome! Thank you for letting us know.
