I’m getting an infinite redirect loop after upgrading from 3 to 3.1. I’m running this on a Windows machine using the ISAPIRewrite module from Helicon. The permalinks were working fine prior to the upgrade and I’ve already tried resaving them via the admin and restarting IIS on the machine in case anything was being cached.

  • Every time I log into my dashboard and see 3.1 still listed as “lots of fun” on the WordPress Development Blog (with no revised inkling of what so many people actually experienced with their sites after they upgraded to it unless you look at the support forum) makes me wary of trusting that blog as a source of an accurate depiction of new versions of WordPress. Hopefully there aren’t any more unsuspecting people who haven’t upgraded yet choosing that as their impetus to do it.

I don’t think any one said there were no Windows testers, antioch. No one has said that.

But now that we know the problem exists, it’s very annoying, as Sharani said, to see that Blog notice about 3.1, with NO mention of Windows problems. We who waited aren’t put through the trials others were, but it’s still insulting to think that Windows was not considered properly, or at all, for this upgrade.

Today I just read what they are proposing for 3.2 – with NO mention of the Windows problem AGAIN!!!

I think this is totally irresponsible.

@ryan Boren, who posted on page 3, I read the page you linked to that said you had written a ticket for this problem and it was solved.

I didn’t understand a word on that page, but the ending didn’t look solved at all to me.

If this problem has been solved, did you announce it, or will you, in that main blog we see on the Admin page?

It solved my issue when installed WordPress 3.1.1 on my IIS and I created a article on my blog to show more detail, check it out: http://4rapiddev.com/problem-issue-error/wordpress-iis-the-page-isnt-redirecting-properly/

…but in this morning, I installed the latest version of WordPress (3.1.1) and the issue “Redirecting Loop” occurred.

so the issue still isnt resolved in 3.1.1?

After the last upgrade fiasco with our Windows Server, I am waiting to upgrade. Sounds like a good thing if I understand correctly and both 4rapiddev and antioch got the same error with 3.1.1. Wish they would spell out more clearly whether Windows users are supposed to still use the Canonical Redirect Plugin or not and if not, why did two Windows Server users find differently…

to be clear, i havent tried 3.1.1 yet. im not going to bother until i see a number of reports stating its been done successfully. until then its 3.0.5 for me and mine. 🙁

ditto for waiting to upgrade (although I am running 3.1 with the canonical redirect plugin)
