Windows Hosting, IXWebHosting (4 posts)

I'm trying to install WordPress on a Windows hosting package by the host IX Web Hosting. After wrestling with their tech support for a bit this morning I got some issues fixed, but not the major one.

All my .php files are showing up as blank pages. Nothing on them at all. The tech support people said that because it's a Windows hosted site they can't tell what exactly the error is.

I gave them the WP specs and everything is installed right but not Apache or mod_rewrite. So, I'm assuming that WP can't be installed on this server?

They tech support person kept telling me that it were errors in the WP files, and that is why it was blank, but as I was chatting with her I uploaded it to another one of my domains on another server and it works 100% perfectly.

Any help? Or do I just need to suggest Linux hosting to the person who will be using the WP install?

My guess is that they don't have php correctly loaded on there servers. Does it try to download the pages or just show blank pages.

It is always better to have it on Linux. (e.g. no nice permalinks on Win)

Even ixwebhosting's website's says: if you are not using any Win specific applications (.asp or something like that) there is no reason anybody would be on a Win server...
