  • Thanks lots Ian,
I gonna get it around by Thursday or so. Will the links expires ? If not I bookmark it now and do it in your favor as a thanks & xmas gift.
    with thanks and best wishes,
p.s: can u showl me how to make the quicktag code … as you said in other thread.

Nigel, The link will still be good….much thanks! and I have the quicktag setup right now to just enter the code but you have to edit the file name by hand, as opposed to having it prompt you…haven’t figured that much out yet 😉 Just let me know!

Yup. can you show me how to get the quicktag as I am quite new to WordPress ?
The rest I think I can figure out during my term holidays 🙂 which is by the end of this week. If I can do the do the popup message I’ll let ya know 😛
    with thanks and best wishes,
p.s: I am got so excited and try to let my site up & running just before christmas :))

I have this script (thanks Idowens) but when i include it in a post, the code breaks in FFv.1 and everything following the post with the flash button in it get’s mushed.
anyone know how to post flash code without messing up the rest of the page?
for now i am linking to new pages with nothing else on them. which sucks.

hmm, f, I am using ff1 also and I’m not having this coding or ‘mushing’ issue…could you elaborate a bit and I’ll see if I notice anything outta the ordinary.
Just hollar when you get things moving and i’ll be glad to lend a hand. My finals are finished Wed. afternoon so I should be around more after that!

    nigel my email is
    idowens AT gmail DOT com

    2 questions:
    1. how’d you get a gmail without your last name? that’s cool. i don’t use my gmail cause i hate my last name. no one can ever spell it correctly.
    2. can you show me the code you use to insert your wimpybutton into a post that doesn’t break?

what do you mean w/o my last name? When I signed up it allowed me to choose my own username….did it not for you?
secondly, the code I use is:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase=",0,47,0" WIDTH="30" HEIGHT="30" id="wimpy_button_1" name="wimpy_button01"><PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="wimpy_button.swf?theFile=wordpress/wp-content/Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You.mp3"><PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high><PARAM NAME=wmode VALUE=transparent><PARAM NAME="BGCOLOR" value="#FFFFFF"><EMBED src="wimpy_button.swf?theFile=wordpress/wp-content/Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You.mp3" quality=high bgcolor="#FFFFFF" WIDTH="30" HEIGHT="30"NAME="wimpy_button01" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE=""></EMBED></OBJECT>
This sets the button against a white background and at a size change 30 to a diff. to make the button larger or smaller…make sur ewhen you copy/paste it you don’t allow for any stray spaces or carriage returns…lemme know if you still can’t get it to work.

    RE: Gmail
nope. i was unable to register for the beta without entering a last name.
    : (

    RE: Code
it got cut off there, but i know the rest. do you close it all up with </OBJECT> ?
if so, that’s essentially whe code that their example generates, no? breaks my site.

so you don’t use line breaks when you enter it do you?
i see (said the blind man!)
    thank you.

heh, it can be kind of tricky but once you get it just right I assume you copy/paste it each time or use a quicktag to insert it so as to not get any whitespace 😉 Glad you got it up and running!

I’ve been emailed a lot recently about the Wimpy button on my site…for more information, please visit my Colophon page or follow this affilitate link when making your purchases.

is there a way to add this code but keep the site compliant? I get tons of errors when I use it.
