I read that we will have a free “lite” MultilingualPress 3 version in, maybe, 2019… so, now we wait.
Hi @mmtomm,
There will be a MLP 3 Lite version at some point in the future, in the meantime in order to continue using MLP 2 with WordPress 5+ you should not use it with Gutenberg but with the Classic Editor. We are going to add __block_editor_compatible_meta_box
parameter to false
when we register the translation metabox, doing so will automatically show the Classic Editor. At the time of writing this (WordPress 5 beta 5), that functionality is not included yet (only in Gutenberg plugin for now), so in that case you´ll need to install the Classic Editor plugin by yourself, more info about the parameter here: https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/handbook/extensibility/meta-box/
Regarding MLP 2 support, we are going to continue providing support for bugs, but not for new functionality.
Thanks,
Emili
Ok, whats up with WP core support for MS-ML?
Not very happy about the situation to possibly need to change the ML-setup in the next months or year (change to MLP 3 Lite or another solution) because MLP 2 is not totally compatible with WordPress 5+ / Gutenberg.
Those Upgrades cutting away good Plugins/Add-Ons do not give me a break (Firefox, Thunderbird, WordPress and the list goes on).
🙁

It its very frustrating after two months now not having support and/or roadmap for MLP2 or MLP3 Lite. Updating to WordPress 5 with Gutenberg deactivated is as unattractive as to pay the high sum for MLP3 with no automatic upgrade of the MLP2 installation.
