I am going to be using this plugin to create short link to a daily housing market update I create on my site. I’m going to use them by putting them in the description field of my YouTube overview video so people can easily click through.

If I create one or two of these per day, will it eventually slow my site down? I don’t know how redirects work, but if every time a URL is entered into a browser and it has to check it against a list of 600 redirects…would that slow things up?

  • Good Question.
The answer is, yes, it will slow it down, BUT only a little bit. The reality is that it will not slow it down a significant amount because it just checks the URL against the list before anything else loads. It is a slit second calculation.

    Thank you much.

If I use one of the caching plugins to store the html copy of my sites various pages/posts…will it also save the smart links that are generated by this plugin?
