It will if the malware is stored in the database. If it’s in files then no. Without knowing what is actually wrong with your site it’s impossible to say.
Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of.
If I did export the XML (which contained malware) and stored it on my computer, will that make my Mac vulnerable as well?

It might, but it’s not quite so likely. The reason for this is that malware designed for a WordPress site won’t (under normal circumstances anyway) run on a Mac or other PC. Note that that’s not saying that it won’t do anything, but just that it shouldn’t. If you’re concerned I’d suggest scanning the file with a good malware scanner to see if it picks anything up. Remember that even though they are not a common target, Macs are still vunerable to all sorts of hacking attempts. 🙂
