Will Custom Post Types allow use of core data fields (e.g. author, title, tags)?

  • It would be really neat if the custom post types allowed me to specify a post type that includes e.g. *several* authors (e.g. for a collaboration), or the title of another post (e.g. for a review), … and/or if the “director” of a movie and/or the “singer” in a song could be “cross-referenced” as the same identity as the author of another blog post (etc.)

I think that could be achieved in combination with the custom taxonomies. For example a film review could have a ‘director’ tag that matched another film.

For a review it would be really powerful, as you say to link a custom type to say a page or a post. Something like the parent page dropdown.

Yes, well I would hope that there would be a way that — for example — a director of / actor in a film could also be linked to the same person as an author of blog post… perhaps a list of such “roles” could even be displayed in the blog user’s profile?
