When you setup the wildcard, did you point it to your public_html root?
It looks a bit different apparently on h-sphere…

I’m not sure and the hosting support people have gone for the day. In the control panel it’s set up as:
Name: *.carberyplastics.com
TTL: 86400
Class: IN
Type: A
Data: 78.137.166.6
Does this tell where it’s pointing (the IP address)? or do I need to add another instruction somewhere else to tell it the directory?
I’m still having this problem. Hosting support say it is pointing to the root folder.
“The wildcard is working cos its pointing you to the correct server.
I would guess it something to do with your WordPress Config
You will need to add a server alias for spain.carberyplastics.com”
Is a server alias handled by the WP install?
*eyes your host*
No. If the wildcard was working than ANYTHING.yourdomain.com would point to domain.com no mater if you had WordPress running or not!
WordPress just tells your server what page to display when you go there.
The serveralias line goes in the apche config.
The wildcard subdomain record goes in the DNS area.
*both* have to be there for it to work. the one you have above is the DNS record. the host has to confirm they did the serveralias, or tell you where it is in their control panel, cuz the above is the domain record.
wildcard subdomain = serveralias
I tried pinging this and it’s timing out, so it;s not done right. probably on the server side.
