I’ve got a site with some static xhtml pages and css with a menu and call my blog site in WP. All works fine on my localhost LAMP machine where the site is hosted. The pages come up beautifully in Firefox on that box, but when I use a different machine (Win XP sp2; IE7) inside my LAN to pull up the site using the LAN IP of the server box, it’s weird. The main static pages work great and look the same as on the LAMP box. However, when you click the Blog link( the WordPress part of the site), the WP page comes up with text only, using old school blue underlined links and missing images. It looks like some 1993 Netscape site. Any thoughts?

  • I don’t think its an IE issue. Do the blog addresses in your dashboard settings actually contain the word “localhost” ?

I had that in some “links” that I created with localhost unthinkingly, but I fixed those already because the other machine wasn’t seeing those at all.

I’m also seeing that the one picture I uploaded is located with a localhost URL, and the one Page I created seems to have a Permalink with a localhost URL… I’m a bit stumped as to how to change them.

Well, you caught it. I had localhost setup in my WordPress address and Blog address under general settings. That fixed it right up!

Thanks ClaytonJames! It’s always surprising how some can understand what the issue is without pictures or diagrams. You, sir, are the man.

Now if you could help me with my other post, that would be awesome! 🙂

Why, thank you… But I must confess that it’s a pretty common issue. You would have discovered it soon anyhow. Glad it works!
