• I coded a sidebar with the content I wanted to see displayed.

I then decided to add a couple of widgets and was quite surprised to see that all my manually coded sidebar items were totally ignored.

Would be great if both can coexist. ;o)

    Thanks

  • It’s very easy to accomplish. Look here to see what I’ve done. The sidebar is simply divided into separate static and dynamic divs.

    Chris,

    Beautiful blog!

Thanks for the answer. Makes sense once you point it out.

All widgets stay together as a block, right? Can’t insert any manually coded content in between widgets?

Just realized two things @ widgets that make them impractical (and potentially a maintenance headache):

1- I lose everything when I remove a widget back from a sidebar. This is a big problem — it means I cannot “try” different widgets without having to re-specify parms everytime.

2- I cannot add a widget to two different sidebars. I can understand not being allowed to add the same widget more than once to the same sidebar, but shouldn’t we be able to add the same widget to different sidebars?
