    I’m trying to use a widget in my footer and when I go to Appearance > Widgets > Manage with Live Preview. I get this notice:

    Your theme has 7 widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.

    You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customiser to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages

    The widgets don’t appear to be displayed on any pages.

    I have very little coding knowledge but I had a look in the theme editor and I’m seeing the below so I’m not sure what the problem is.

    footer.php:

    <div class="col <?php echo $footerColumnClass;?>">
    				      <!-- Footer widget area 1 -->
    		              <?php if ( function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') && dynamic_sidebar('Footer Area 1') ) : else : ?>
    		              	  <div class="widget">
    						  	 <h4 class="widgettitle">Widget Area 1</h4>
    						 	 <p class="no-widget-added"><a href="<?php echo admin_url('widgets.php'); ?>">Click here to assign a widget to this area.</a></p>
    				     	  </div>
    				     <?php endif; ?>

    Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
