Widgets – not available to select/modify

    Hi Everyone,

    I’d like to make some changes to my widgets, yet when I go to appearance>widgets I no longer see all the widgets I’ve set up in my sidebar and footer, and I only see 3 “Available widgets” (Askimet Widget, Archives and Blog Subscriptions (Jetpack).

    My dashboard indicated I’ve got 11 widgets and they all still appear on my site, but that’s not great that I cant make any changes.

    Anyone else having the same issue of have a solution?

    It could be a plugin causing the issue.

    I would check your plugins and try disabling them one by one to see if one is causing the problem.

    Or it could be with your functions.php

    Lastly, make sure no plugins are causing any javascript conflicts. I’ve seen issues in the past where Javascript conflicts prevented me from using Widgets.

    Hi Jonathan,

    I’m trying to disable my plugins via the plug-ins menu but now I’ve discovered two that won’t disable – Jetpack, and one called Shareaholic
    I was going to try deleting them, but that’s not allowed when the plugins are active

    Okay – I deleted the Jetpack plugin through my FTP server, and the widget options reappeared.

    I reactivated all my other plugins with no issues with the widgets. I made the change to my widgets, and then reinstalled the jetpack plugin – the widget options have again disappeared.

    The good news – I now know what the problem is.
    The bad news – it looks like anytime I want to make a change to my blog setup I’ll have to deactivate (and/or delete) jetpack.
