• Hello,

I’ve been trying out, adding, and deleting right sidebar widgets to find the best mix for my site. The problem: when I’m logged in as the administrator, the sidebar widgets display correctly. When I’m logged out, they reorder and move into incorrect positions. How can I make the settings global (all the widgets appear in the same order on each page) regardless of when I’m logged in or out.

I did try a per page sidebar widget, but deactivated it. It may still be affecting my pages. How do I negate its effects?

    Thank you in advance.

    John

  • That shouldn’t happen.

Does it still happen when you deactivate all plugins?

When you switch temporarily to a default theme like TwentyEleven? (note that you may need to reset some theme-specific settings after)

    What theme are you using?

    Hi Zoonini,

I just went in and removed all the sidebar widgets. I set them up again and they looked fine. I checked about 50 pages (while logged in as admin). After logging out, I found many pages that were incorrect.

This problem seems to be connected to whether I’m logged in. Any ideas? I am using a custom theme that I created via Artisteer.

Is there a setting in the dashboard somewhere that could be causing this?

Hi there, would it be possible to try the two troubleshooting steps I mentioned above? They are crucial to narrowing down the culprit. I’ve never seen this issue before.

Does it still happen when you deactivate all plugins? If not, reactivate them one by one, checking your site in between each, to find which one is hte culprit.

The issue could certainly be something theme-related, so in order to rule that out you may want to try switching to a default theme, as I mentioned above.

    Hello,

I deactivated each plugin to test and nothing made any difference. I then deactivated each related plugin and deleted the files for each. I rebuilt the widgets and installed a new random theme. I then reloaded my last theme and added an adsense widget. The widget only shows adsenseads when I’m logged in as admin. When I log out, the ads don’t show.

This has something to do with the admin. Why would ads only show to the administrator? It doesn’t matter which widget/plugin I use for adsense-it only shows up when I’m logged in.

Hmm – this is the first time you’ve mentioned anything about ads and AdSense.

Could you provide a link to a page on your site where an AdSense ad should be displaying?

What AdSense plugins are you using?

Have you tried viewing your site in different browsers? Can you see the ads there?

Are you running any ad-blocker exetensions?

It should be showing on the right sidebar column where it says recent posts. This widget (recent posts) should move down one position.

When I login it shows correctly across all pages.

It shows correctly here under “Sponsors”:

The odd thing is that it shows correctly on internal pages/not on main navigational pages index/main categories etc.

Let me know your thoughts (and thanks for your help).

Note: it doesn’t display on all internal pages–just some of them. I’m really baffled.

Are you using an AdSense plugin? Could you provide link to it so I can take a look?

I’m not using an adsense plugin; I figured it was time to avoid them. I’m using a standard text widget.

The only plugin that I can think of (that could have started an issue) is a page-specific sidebar widget. I think it was this one. I deleted it weeks ago:

Did you completely delete the plugin from your server via FTP?
