Widgets disappear after changing themes … any info?

    It seems that when I switch themes, all the content in the widgets disappear. I assume this happens because every theme has different widgets. This is a bit of a pain when I’m trying out several themes.

    So I’ve taken to placing all my widgets in the Inactive Widget area before I change the theme so I don’t lose all my content (as well as copy and paste to a word document.).

    Can anyone confirm this and have any other suggestions around it?

    This is standard expected behaviour. Widgets are stored on a per theme basis. Using the Inactive Widgets area as you are doing would be the best way around this when you’re theme testing.

    The widgets you previously had are in the inactive area. Each theme has a function file which tells it which widgets to load.
