widgets "archives" and "meta" can't be deleted

  • I have only recently started with WordPress. The page with the problem has the Twenty Eleven Theme with a sidebar on the right. When I look at the page, the sidebar shows the titles ARCHIVES and META and under META it shows the links “Site Admin” and “Log out” as a bulleted list. When I go to Appearance and Widgets, there is nothing in the sidebar to delete. How can I get rid of these things? Thanks.

  • Twenty Eleven shows some default stuff if you empty the sidebars. Just put something there. An empty text widget might do it.
