 * Yes, WordPress offers both the capacity to create widgets, AND a few widgets.
   Plugins provide more widgets from developers other than WordPress.

 * I have lots of widgets, but I am not using most of them, but I am using one for
   RSS feeds that I can drag and drop in any part of my layout and enter the feed
   URL and how many items to display. The problem is that it doesn’t give me the
   option to have the feed items open in a separate window/tab like I can do with
   all the other links I place on my site.
