# Widget Sign up Error

 * Hello, i’m using plugin 1.5.1 and I have three fields I’m asking subscribers 
   to complete (fname; lname; email) of which only email is required.
 * When testing, I get the following error:
 * Warning: trim() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /xxx/wp-content/
   plugins/mailchimp/mailchimp.php on line 909
    The resource submitted could not
   be validated. For field-specific details, see the ‘errors’ array.
 * Can you help me figure out how to make this work?

 * sign up form is at [https://arlinstitute.org](https://arlinstitute.org). I’ve
   noticed that scottgruber had the same error about 3 weeks ago. His post is titled“
   PHP 7.0.8 throws trim error”. I edited line 909 exactly as he shows it and now
   get a different error.
 * WordPress theme is Nisarg. Error shows right on the website after pressing the
   submit button.
 * Do you want me to revert line 909 back to the original? then the error is same
   as scottgruber.

 * I went ahead and reverted back to your original code so you could see the error
   that comes “out of the box” so to speak.

 * You are totally correct – this is the exact same error scottgruber brought to
   our attention a few weeks ago. While we can’t provide an exact ETA, I can assure
   you that a bugfix will be pushed soon that will resolve the error you’re seeing.
