• Hi
I’m making a website for my mother, and the theme she’s chosen has suddenly decided not to react to my inserting widgets into it.
The back-end display changes. But the front-end doesn’t.

The theme is called Motion. I’ve used it before with no trouble.

Any help figuring this out would be nice.

    Thank you

  • Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

    Also disable/deactivate any caching plugin(s).

I’ve emptied my cache, and opened the page in Opera, Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer. And it’s still giving me the default sidebar.

    I’m perplexed.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to confirm that it’s a theme-specific problem?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    uhm. I’ve done the above.

The plugins aren’t a problem, and it seems to be a theme-specific error.
I can’t for the life of me think what’s wrong here.

Maybe it’s my mother’s shitty host? I had issues with the domain before the support team reset the whole account to factory settings. But before thy did that, I tried using a database on my own hosting account elsewhere and it wouldn’t let me.

The memory capacity of the php on the server is already 32M, should it be higher?
If so, we’re boned. Because they don’t allow changes to the PHP Configuration. For the purpose of warning customers, we’re with Vodahost

32M is a little on the low side, I’m afraid. It could be that your current theme is something of a memory hog.
