Support » Fixing WordPress » Widget panel in Admin area not working

  • Hey, everyone!
Apparently, there’s a problem with my Widgets panel.
No buttons work in it, INCLUDING the buttons “Screen options”, “Help” and even the button “Collapse menu” in the end of Main menu…
    Drad-n-drop is not working.
(Screen options and Collapse Menu buttons Do work in other panels of Admin Console…)

    I turned off ALL plugins.
I also switched to Twenty Seventeen Theme and back to my current theme, which effectively cleared my sidebar and footer widgets to default content.
    I also added “define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );” to wp-config.php
    The problem is still there.

What could be possibly done to resolve my annoying issue?

  • Here are the links to two images, showing screen captures of widget.php in Firefox, with diagnostic messages.
Apparently something goes wrong, but I have no idea how to fix that.

Please, help me with fixing that.

I can add that I discovered more errors in other WP Admin console areas.

    That includes:
    – when in /wp-admin/post-new.php, settings for “insert/edit link” not working, breaking this function after settings button (toothed wheel icon) pressed.
    – issues with Featured image settings (from a plugin).
Deactivation of the Featured Image plugin has no effect.

I noticed that WP upgraded to the current version by itself (how?!) and I think everything I experience is linked to that.
Diagnostics show JS errors on the affected Admin pages.

    Anyone having any ideas?

    1. Please install the health check plugin and report back its findings: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

    2. This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    See http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
