    Bit of an issue importing Widget content:

    - I have a fresh install of WordPress 3.5.1
    - Installed WP theme successfully
    - Installed Widget Importer Plugin successfully
    - But, when I import the “widget_data.json” file and click the “show widget settings” button, the page refreshes like it’s importing, but then all that shows up are the “Select All Active Widgets” and “Un-Select all Active Widgets” buttons. The rest of the page is blank.

    - The server is running PHP 5.3.13
    - Made sure the “wp-content/uploads folder” has write permissions.
    - Also made sure the “widget_data.json” wasn’t blank.

    Any idea what’s causing this?

    Thank you

    Just solved my own issue:

    In the php.ini file, there’s an “fopen” setting:
    allow_url_fopen = Off

    I had to change it to:
    allow_url_fopen = On

    Which allowed the import of the Widget settings.

    Hello, I am having the same problem.

    Can you please tell me where to look for the PHP.ini file.

    The php.ini will be located somewhere on your web hosting server.
    Some hosting providers make it easy to locate and edit via an admin console, others make it harder to find. If you can't find it, you can always call your provider and talk to tech support. They should be able to help you out.
