Support » Plugin: List Products By Category Widget for WooCommerce » Widget displays hidden & out of stock products

The widget displays all products in the given category, regardless of their catalog visibility or stock status. It would be great if there were some way to limit the results to exclude “hidden” and “out-of-stock” products as on the shop pages. Looking at the plugin code it seems there’s no way to hook into it to add a query arg, so I wonder if you might consider adding such options to your plugin. Otherwise I’m going to have to basically create my own version of the plugin based on your code, which seems a little silly, since I imagine other users would find the changes helpful.

I believe following the info in this post about the tax_query is what’s needed: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/231118/wp-query-exclude-hidden-products-from-woocommerce-product-list/262628#262628

Please let me know if you think you might be able to make an update sometime soon, and if there’s anything I can do to help make that happen. Thanks so much!

    Hi Alison,

You’re right, it should take into account “hidden” and “out-of-stock” products. I will add this into the next update with some other new features. Please keep an eye out for an update shortly.

    Thanks

Hmm there seems to be a new problem, though: the category selected from the drop down menu in the widget defaults to the first category no matter what. That is, if I select a different category from the list, when I click the “Save” button it reverts to the first one in the list. I’ve tested it using the Healthcheck & Troubleshooting plugin (running the default theme and with all other plugins disabled except for WooCommerce); it doesn’t appear to be a plugin conflict, but rather an issue with the List Products By Category Widget. Suggestions?

    All best,
    Alison

P.S. And actually even for that first category no products are displaying in the widget, though there twenty-eight items in the category, all of which are set to display on shop pages and in search results…

Hi @zirafa, please update the plugin to 1.2.1. This problem has now been fixed. Thank you for your feedback and patience.
