 * I am using theme twenty fourteen. I like everything about it – except how it 
   looks on widescreen, the right side is a big white space. I put a background 
   over there, but it just looks stupid.
 * Is there some way to center this? Every answer I have found says to add a child
   theme, but am not allowed with my managed site on godaddy.
 * Please advise.

   but I do not know which of these might be the best for your case:
