• We have the year 2020, Serverless platforms like Firebase or MongoDB Realm offer OAuth, Cloud CMS like Ghost, Strapi or similar also, why WordPress is not interested in implementing a modern auth solution in WordPress core?

I mean blind developer would see how far behind the WP Team is.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

  • It’s probably because these ultra-blind developers who can’t even see how far behind their little baby is have been waiting for someone like you to lead this effort 😄

Now are you ready to take up the mantle, or would you rather sit in the spectators lounge and and wonder? 😄

    You might look at IndieAuth…

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/indieauth/

You might also find the Indieweb documentation as a good resource for some of the Oauth and interconnected web technologies (syndication, Oauth, federated websites, etc.) used there…

    Hope this helps!

@jnashhawkins No sorry I don’t want to depend on plugins for something critical like Auth I want something like this from the core team.

    Well…

You want what you want the way you want and that’s a good thing but…

I offered an alternative track to get you what you want for now while you pursue a request to include Oauth in the core. I can’t offer you more from here but you might want to pursue that with the core team.
