  • Technically h1 tags are good for SE optimization, maybe they just don’t like to use it?

Usuaully h1 tags are used one on the page for the page title, sometime if you replace that with an image you usually just leave it.

“Is it probably about SE optimization?”

Or could it be that the authors are unaware that it’s actually good for SEO?

I’m not sure, but remember that a blog usually has hundreds of pages, and the same h1 header all over the site.
    Probably that’s not so good.
That’s the only reason coming to my mind.
But still I would like to read more opinions on this.

I dont have <h1> tags. and I have pr5 and pr6 pages. all that seo stuff, pfft, write and it comes. cover your site with ads and no content, and no <h1> tag will save you.

I don’t believe that’s appropriate usage of the “h1” tag. My understanding is that “h1” is the main heading of a HTML page (in WP it would be a page or post) and:

    1. it should therefore appear only once on the page.
    2. it should be unique across the site.

I remember reading somewhere that Google actually punish you if you have multiple “h1” tags on the same page.

Also, the “normal” convention is to have the “h1” tag have the same contents as the “title” tag, so having a site with duplicated “h1” contents doesn’t make sense.
