Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Why so many pending orders in woocommerce shopping cart?

  • I just rebuilt my site using wordpress and built a shopping cart. Woocommerce orders shows me when sales are pending, meaning they haven’t paid but selected an item to purchase. Is it normal to have 2-3 pending for every 10 orders that actually go through?

I am set up to only take payments through PayPal however its a business account so people can pay by card or echeck as well. I don’t know if people are turning away because its redirecting to PayPal and they’re afraid it’s a phishing scam or if people cant figuring out how to pay by card or maybe they’re just changing their mind.

Is it normal to have that many pending orders? What can I do to help turn these pending orders into sales?

Obviously this is subjective and will be different for all stores. However as you’re using PayPal I would expect there to be a few. As you guessed, this means customers are adding products to their cart, completing the checkout process but not actually following through with payment on PayPal.

Could be any number of reasons causing this. Maybe email a couple of the people who didn’t end up paying to ask them why?
