You put where your shipping from. You don’t have to have a physical store. My wife and I don’t have a physical atore. We ship from post office po box.

It is if you have to collect a vat or tax in order for those actions to work. If you plan on using WC to drop ship there are plugins for that. I’m sure you can find.

Why do I have to fill in “Where is your store based” in this day and age where everything is on the net !? My store are based online and have no boutique.
@stefsternyc is correct in that you need a store ‘location’ so that you can properly collect the tax required by your country or state (US). The location of this address is under **WooCommerce > Settings > General**, and it is used to process shipping and tax calculations, but mostly to make sure that taxes are taken correctly. More on tax can be seen here.
Shipping plugins do override specific items for charging the correct rates, but still need a ‘home’ item to zero in on – the physical address is not as important as the City/State/Country/ZIP.
