 * … just make all your images remote hosted if that’s your concern. No sense adding
   an extra step to the process.

 * To answer the question:
    1) remote servers may go down without you noticing it
   immediately. If your own server does, you should know. Plus, there are no missing
   images then. 2) Some Ad-/Phishing- Blockers don’t like remote images, especially
   if they are small. After all, it could be an attempt of data mining. 3) Often
   times those image hosters are slower than your own server.
