I’m new to WordPress and I’ve been scouring these forums for several weeks, and I am just now starting to get a feel for which members have the “juice.” It made me realize how much I use posting statistics on boards like these to give me a little context about who the information is coming from.
For instance, if I see a poster has 1,700 posts and 4 stars, then I’m comfortable placing more value and trust in this person’s instruction; if the person telling me what to put in my code has 3 posts, the information or feedback is still valuable to me, but I make sure to dig a litle deeper before I start cutting and pasting code.
My understanding is that miniBB does have member’s rankings; is there a reason these forums don’t use them? Is there some sort of downside that out weighs the value? Am I stupid for paying attention to forum rankings? If not, I would like to cast a vote for it. It would certainly make it a lot easier for a newbie like me to figure out which members have vested interest in this forum, and which ones are a crapshoot.
