I went to make a tutorial to my client how easy it is to post to word press when I found this block system. I don’t think my clients are going to want to learn this just to write a post.

Glad you kept the classic maybe I can get used to this new format myself someday.

  • After playing with this for a while, I realize I don’t have the time for it. This site is a very small portion of what I do every day. Re-installed the classic. And I’m back on the hunt … WP was my SOLUTION, now it’s the platform for which I’m trying to find a new solution. But it is good to know they’re leaving the classic interface for the next couple years so I won’t have to scramble like last time. I’ve accepted the fact I can expect to look for a new host every two years or so–it’s the new “norm.”

I am glad I found this post. I have also used the classic wp plugin, and am aware of the December 2021 sunset. I am starting a new website with the intent that naive users can easily create their own posts. This worked very well for me in the past — it was so easy for them. I am experienced with software (have my own company) and doubtless I can learn Gutenburg. But I don’t think now is the time to do it, because I use WP as a tool and in a non-profit. (I specialize in things Microsoft .NET). So for me, EASE OF USE is paramount.

I have found using the Elementor page-builder to be a beautiful solution. The majority of my pages use classic WP, because it is so easy. My hope is that WP will evolve so that one can use on pages and posts the class WP forever, and by choice for some pages use Gutenburg (or another page builder).

If that does not happen, I think WordPresss will lose a lot of users, and that will be sad.

I mean this as a constructive comment, as I have enjoyed using WordPress for two different non-profit organizations (first, and then afterwards redid my business website to use WP).

But given the planned sunset of classic WP, I am going to begin now looking for alternatives for my new website. I am sorry to do this, because I really like WordPress very much.
