Hey there frankpipia.ca,
After checking the theme this should be the default value for Call to Action sidebar. Please try going to Appearance -> Widgets and add your own text in Call to Action sidebar.
If this doesn’t work we can try to hide it with some custom CSS.

It was not there before, so why is there now? I added some text to get rid of it, but that’s not what I want.

I’ve checked again and removing the text from the widget area should remove it completely, as I mentioned above if that doesn’t work please let me know and we’ll hide it with some custom CSS.
I’m not sure why is that there since I’m not really familiar with the theme and I do not represent theme authors, I’m just trying to help.

Hi! I just updated the free theme Pure & Simple Version: 1.1.3

Please follow the following steps to fix your issue;
Go to Dashboard=> Appearance=> Customize=> Basic Setting=> And click in the Hide default content from theme=> Then save it.

This is really bad to update the theme
and then have to go to

I have been heavily promoting the Pure and Simple theme for a long time now, and am very disappointed that nobody from the company is responding to these forum posts.

it seems to me that you will need to change theme. I tried different things and this stubborn text is all the time.
