    Why is there separation between posts and pages?

    Once I get down in the weeds and inspect the specific behaviors of around both pages and post... both can have similar requirements? Or seem to act very similar?

    For example some pages that need to be listed on other sections of the site may require the use of categories but with the highest priority category being the parent page. Other times I find the need to add commenting to a page and other post like features but also need to have a page parent and absolute control over the URL...
