Why is there a Twenty Twelve Child Theme update?

    Running Infinite WP to manage my sites, about five or six of which are running on child themes of Twenty Twelve. I’m a little confused by the fact that child theme updates are appearing in my update queue for these sites. What is contained in these updates? I presume it’s to address the latest vulnerability, but won’t any update overwrite existing child themes… thereby negating the entire purpose of having a child theme?
