• Hi,

The “Media (attachment)” post type is by default disabled for the xml sitemap. Why is that? The video instructions says that’s on purpose but doesn’t explain why.

In what situations would you want to enable it?

    Thanks
    JP

When you upload an image, WordPress automatically creates a post of the type “attachment” in the database and the corresponding URL for that. It calls this the “media” post type. This is usually not considered good to include on the sitemap and appear on the Search Result as just being an attachment URL. However, this setting won’t prevent Google from indexing the actual image URLs, therefore, it won’t hurt your SEO.

    Thank you suascat.
So in what situation would it be good to enable?

    Thanks

If you’re wanting to see the media (attachment) pages in the Google search results, you’d include the media (attachment) post types to the XML Sitemap.
