They’re openly telling people that because you have failed to update this for 18 months that it creates security issues for people using their hosting.

You received this from a Synthesis support ticket? If so, please put in a support ticket at http://my.studiopress.com/ & include a link to this thread. The information above is not correct.

    Their note to me says:

[WARNING] genesis-simple-edits plugin last update was 18 months ago. Please make sure it is compatible with current WordPress version. If not, remove it.

The reason for these recommendations is that too many plugins can hinder performance while inactive or out-of-date plugins can provide a security vulnerability for your site. We do monitor the sites we host for security vulnerabilities, but it is a good habit to delete inactive plugins and make sure those you use are up to date.

I have gone ahead and made the changes in my functions.php file, so was able to delete the plugin anyway. You can take it up with SP why they’re telling me there’s a problem if that’s not correct.

    Hello Scott!

There is no security issues with the plugin called “genesis-simple-edits”. That warning is a good practice to avoid future problems.

Always is good to keep your plugin updated and check it a new or old version is compatible with your wordpress version 😉
