  • Resolved TheHypnonaut

    I created a child theme with the new update to my theme. When activating the theme, my footer widgets are skewed and there is a white border around my pages. What happened?I followed suggestions given in the Child Theme section.

    I need this site up fast and I am forgoing the child theme. I’m new to css and I want to keep my sanity and my web audience.

    That’s a little different, looks like you duplicated the whole parent theme CSS style.css. That’s not really necessary and if the parent theme references new CSS rules in the updated version, then you won’t get those changes.

    Try using this wp-content/themes/target-child/style.css as a start:

    Theme Name: Target Child Theme
    Author: Self-Help WordPress User
    Template: target
    @import url("../target/css/reset.css");
    @import url("../target/style.css");
    /* Your CSS goes after here */
    #wrapper, body {
            background-color: rgb(255, 0, 0);

    See if that makes a difference. I installed that as my Target Child theme on my test installation and it looks like the parent theme (except it’s got a red background).

    You may want to delete the #wrapper, body CSS that I put in just to test it… 😉
