Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » Why is H1 the same as H2?

  • Resolved Monique23

    Hi there,

Could you explain to me why on the single events page (see link) the H1 is saying exactly the same as H2?

The event title is very long in order to identify one event from the other. So in WP admin we cannot change the event title. How can I change the H1 for single events (which is anyway a double text since the H2 says the same) to something static, such as “Activiteiten”?

    Thanks & regards,

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey there @monique23!

Thanks for reaching out — that’s a great question, I can help with that 🙂

The H2 is a bit smaller on the site you listed, since The Events Calendar inherits the title tags from the theme, with the font it’s using must end up just slightly larger than the h2 title from TEC.

The h2 can be overridden by selecting this class and defining style in CSS: .tribe-events-single-event-title

    Take care,
    Ed 🙂

    Hi Ed,

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I haven’t been completely clear, I am not talking about the styling (font size et cetera). I meant the fact that the H1 and H2 are obviously both taken from the events title inserted in a single event. So you get:

    1. H1: Mindfulness voor Beginners woensdagochtend Best
    2. H2: Mindfulness voor Beginners woensdagochtend Best
      • Apart from the fact that it doesn’t seem very logic to have the H1 and H2 read the same text, we would like the H1 to read something like “Activiteiten”. This seems more logic. Then we would get:

        1. H1: Activiteiten
        2. H2: Mindfulness voor Beginners woensdagochtend Best
          • Apart from the more logical H1 and H2, that would also help solving the issue of way too long H1’s for events on the site…

Can you help me to achieve that?

Sorry, I get what you’re talking about now 🙂

It looks like the H1 is from your theme, specifically H1 class(es) → main-title entry-title

The H2 being generated by The Events Calendar is class → tribe-events-single-event-title

You can try changing the default template to Default events template under Events → Settings → Display. Sometimes this works well, other times it breaks more things.

If that doesn’t help, you’ll have to decide whether to remove the H1 or H2. The H1 can be removed via a custom page template while the H2 can be removed via our templating system, you can learn how to override these templates within our Themer’s Guide.

    Hey there,

Since this thread has been inactive for a while, I’m going to go ahead and mark it as resolved. Don’t hesitate to create a new thread any time you help again!

    Ed 🙂
