# Why Install?

 * Hi everyone,
 * A very newbie question, but I am not clear why I would install WordPress. I currently
   run [http://www.thirdwaveactivism.com](http://www.thirdwaveactivism.com) and 
   one day want to spice it up a bit.
 * To clarify do I need to get hosting and install wordpress in order to design 
   my site with my own HTML, CSS etc?

 * yes, you would need hosting to install WP.
 * The reason to have a self-hosted WP blog is more power. It’s more work to get
   it up and keep it up to date, etc….but you can do anything you want with it, 
   no wordpress.com restrictions
 * You can use any plugins, any themes, customize anything you want, etc
