• It seems that the more the time passes, the more thumbs are automaticlaly created.
I didn’t choose a custom size nor I enabled themes, so the default 150x150px thumb size is used.
However, a lot of 40×39, 12×40, 300×150-ish random size thumbs are popping up here and there, wasting precious space.
Is it possible to just keep it simple, and create only 150×150 thumbs?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,

thanks for getting back to me! I will go through the list, just one more question: is your WP version 4.1? Ok, I lied – one more: what’s your WP theme?

    Best,
    Petra

My bad, I totally forgot to add the other relevant details. 🙂
WP 4.1, and a custom theme which basically is… a stock theme heavily customized in cosmetical (CSS) terms, but not much more (please see the blog link in my profile).

    Hi Petra, any good news?
Having thumbs for related posts is nice, but the behaviour I described aboce, unfortunately, is not.

    Hey,

sorry for the long delay. I have tried everything: installed the plugins that usually create this issues (All in one SEO, WPTouch, Broken Link Checker,…), used featured images, custom fields, custom size thumbnails, uploading the file, inserting it via link,… The problem is that you get really weird sizes that our plugin would never create on its own: 40×39, 12×40…this one felt like something needed for mobile but unfortunately I could only do tests with the free version of WPTouch and couldn’t create any duplicates with it. Not saying it is WPTouch fault, just the first thing that pops to mind with such small sizes. Then I tried changing the thumbnail sizes that WP creates by default (via Settings->Media), which we then use for posts, still nothing. I even tried using different but still standard WP themes. Nothing.
I am running out of ideas to be honest. BTW – what kind of names do these duplicate/new images/thumbnails get?

    Take care and enjoy Monday,
    Petra
