Having been thoroughly put off blogging because v2.8 didn’t allow me to change dates are use just about any option on the right side of my editing pages, I was thrilled to update to 2.8.1 – hoping this ridiculous problem had been fixed! But no, it hasn’t. I still have to turn off all my plugins to make any changes to my blog. When oh when are the people who designed this program actually going to check that these options all work WITHOUT having to turn off the blasted plugins every time (as it did prior to v2.7)? And yes, I have upgraded all my plugins to no avail – I still find I need to turn most of them off to be able to edit my blog! I am going off WordPress at the moment. It was so easy to use but now its beginning to suck. Taunting us with options we can’t use but used to be able to use.

You do know there are hundreds (probably thousands) of plugins. WP promises that, out of the box with zero plugins, it works. And it does. If you’re having serious issues, revisit your plugins. Turn them off one at a time until you find the culprit. One to them is possibly bad or no longer functioning correctly.
Also, I don’t know what you mean about not being able to change dates. I can change the date/time for my posts….
Plugins for WordPress are created by independent authors and so WordPress doesn’t have any control over what they do.
There would be a lot of controversy over having an AppStore-like approach with WordPress reviewing every WordPress plugin that an author wants to have in the plugin directory.
You’ll just have to stick with paying a WordPress plugin developer to provide support for you to resolve any issues.
Is it possible to get ver 2.7 anymore? Because I can’t get the new version to even think about installing.
