  • Why does this only work with single.php?

My theme (and many others) have a dedicated landing page template. Why wouldn’t you make it usable with that? I’m not going to buy a premium theme anyways, but if it was easy to use – I’d probably end up buying a couple of those connectors.

    Very frustrating.

There is no programatic way to account for the unlimited variations of theme custom page templates.

The only way for this to function correctly is by using wordpress core single.php functionality and the far more robust custom post type functionality (over page templates)

You can create as many templates as you wish for free with any design you want. You can do this with a custom single-landing-page.php file in your theme or use any other html and our templating framework.

Woah. Wasn’t expecting a response so quickly! Nice.

Okay, I’ll buy that. Will give the single-landing-page.php route a go.

    Yeah just:

    1. copy your normal single.php and rename it single-landing-page.php
    2. and then change whatever you want in the new single-landing-page.php
    3. and then landing pages will use that by default instead of your normal blog page.

This method works for all custom post types with WordPress.

The tutorial (a little dated) is here:
