I have no idea what is going on with my site any more.

Last Thursday I accidentally updated all – which included my theme. I never had a child theme so essentially lost everything.

Slowly but surely I was able to rebuild it – for the most part, there are still some issues. However, every time I access the site, it looks different. When I log into WPadmin, the site looks roughly the way I want it to (still a few thinks to fix) – the second I log out, it looks all messed up again.

This is how it should look (the way it was before the update): http://www.flickr.com/photos/83043350@N06/7735007862/in/photostream

Depending on the page you go to, it looks completely different.

    What is going on?!?!

-Try switching to the unedited default theme for a moment using the WP dashboard. If you don’t have access to your admin area, you can switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

Here are three pictures to help understand what the heck is going on with my site:

#1 – Here is how my site looked before I broke it by updating everything: My Site Pre-Update

#2 – Here is how I see my site when I am logged into WP-Admin as I painstakingly try to rebuild it. My Broken Site When Logged In

#3 – Here is how the site looks to me once I am logged out: Really Broken (WTF) Site

As you can see, I am in well over my head – any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay – so I switched to the default theme (Twenty Ten) – of course it doesn’t look anything like it is supposed to. So I assume I should now switch back to Glossy Stylo theme and see if it somehow fixed it?

Here is something interesting – I activated the Twenty Ten theme as t-p recommended – the home page continues to look like the pic #3 from above (Really Broken (WTF) Site), but all the subsequent pages are following the Twenty Ten theme:

    Services
    Samples
    etc.

    What does that mean?

Oh – and if I log into wp-admin, the home page also follows the Twenty Ten theme

What plugins do you have active?? From what I could gather you are using a caching plugin and that has a big effect. I learned that when I was editing a site for my friend. I would edit and see the changes when logged in but while logged off the cached version of the site would be used; a good portion of the time it was a page from the previous day so any changes wouldn’t really be visible.
I suggest you check your cache settings. 🙂

thanks jcastaneda! At least now I can tell if the changes I am making are actually doing anything
