Support » Fixing WordPress » Why does commenter’s link brings up 404 page?

If someone comments on my blog but hasn’t entered a web address, the link will take you to a 404 if you click “visit name”.
I’ll bet this is an easy fix. You can see the blog here: http://www.therantpack.com.
If there is no address submitted by the commenter, it will take you to: http://therantpack.com/archives/ Which is a dead link.
Youre talking about the “visit …xxx” ?
that link is a function of your theme.. if you look at the where the commenter’s name is above that .. there is no link unless one has been provided.
Look inside your theme’s comments.php and make sure that its using <?php comment_author_link() ?> for that particular thing. Thats exactly what that template_tag is for.
<?php comment_author_link() ?>
I entered <?php comment_author_link() ?> where it previously had <?php comment_author_url(); ?>
<?php comment_author_url(); ?>
It now goes to a different link, but it’s still dead. This is for commenters who have NOT entered a web address.
Here’s a monkey wrench: The commenter’s link goes to a 404 in Internet Explorer if they didn’t enter an address…
BUT, in Firefox, it just defaults to the main link of the post they are commenting on.
WHY would this happen??
Check it out: http://www.therantpack.com. Click on any of the commenter’s “visit” link.
I dunno — it seems I remember a similar issue on another blog, and the problem turned out to be, of all things, a plugin.
