I just want my permalinks to be normal, but all my pages except my homepage have numbers after them.

    My site is surfwhey.com

For example, if you click on “FAQ”, the permalink will be surfwhey.com/faq-2/

How do I get it to surfwhey.com/faq

Thats all I want. I didnt think it should be difficult, but everytime that I try to change the permalink in the page edit, it just goes back to the original.

    Thanks

  • klib0002,

When you have Pretty Permalinks enabled, WordPress will automatically create your permalink’s ‘slug’ based on the name of the post.

If you create a post called FAQ, you’d expect the permalink would be surfwhey.com/faq, but if you’re seeing /faq-2 instead, it probably means that you have another page or post created that is already using that slug.

Take a look around and see if there’s an existing piece of published, or trashed content that has been assigned that slug already.

    Hope that helps,
    Eric

Thanks guys. I definitely created a few trashed pages before creating this one. Is there an easy way to delete those old pages?
