Why can't I see my sidebar?

    I love the look and feel of Simplify but I can’t seem to show the right sidebar unless I change it to a static page. What I want is to see my slider image and on the right hand side, have a side bar. I have no idea how to make it show unless I create a static page. Am I overlooking something here?
