Support » Fixing WordPress » Why can’t I edit a posts category after publishing?

  • Resolved theglobetrevor

For a while I left some of my posts uncategorized. Now that I know a little bit of what I’m doing I want to organize my posts better. So I want to change my posts that are uncategorized, into specific categories. The problem is, the category option has vanished from the “post edit” page. I have found that a few days after publishing, I can still go in and edit the category, but if a post is older, the category tab is gone.

You can “bulk edit” ADD a category but you can’t “bulk edit REMOVE one 🙁

I can delete any category that I created, but as you may know you cant delete the “uncategorized” category.

Which is a problem since now I want to create a html sitemap page, and some posts show up in 2 different categories simultaneously . I changed the name of “uncategorized” to Europe, but that is as far as I have got. but I don’t want posts showing up in 2 different categories.

Unless you pay for premium, which I cant afford at this point. sitemaps don’t have the option to exclude a category 🙁
